Lexus Lx570 2008+ Navigation / Bypass Solution
For those of you that want to override the cutoff of the dvd player when you release the parking brake and when you drive over 7mph, HERE IT IS!
Disclaimer: I in NO WAY condone watching DVD movies while driving. If you are performing this mod for this reason, please let me know when and where you drive so I can stay the hell off the road. I performed this modification so those passengers in the front seat could enjoy the DVD and have control over the screen for children in the rear who cannot yet operate a remote control. If you think this is a bad idea, please don't continue reading this post.
Tools you will need:
1. Wire cutters/Wire Stripper
2. Phillips screwdriver
3. 10mm socket w/screwdriver handle
4. electrical tape
5. Twist Connectors or Solder/Soldering iron if you feel fancy
6. Light gauge wire
7. connector with a hole
8. SPST switch (for vehicles with Nav only)
Time Required:
~ 45 minutes
Total Cost:
less then $20
Step 1: Unzip the zipper on the e-brake. Somewhat forcefully pull up on the leather cover on the e-brake. You will notice that the leather e-brake cover is attached to the leather cover that leads up to the starter button. B4 taking off the e-brake cover, pry the leather cover going up to the starter switch closest to the e-brake cover, off a little. Push the part of the e-brake cover that is attached to the next cover toward the center of the LX. It should release and slide off the e-brake handle.

Step 2: Remove the leather cover alongside the driver’s side of the radio that leads up to the starter switch. Use a little pulling force to get the cover off. NOTE: the starter switch will come out with the cover.

Step 3: remove the passenger side leather cover that goes from the center console up toward the middle passenger AC vent. Note: start removing the leather cover closest to the seat. Pull gently toward the seat to release the clips. Then when all 3 clips along the side of the leather cover near the seat are released, pull with medium force away from the dash. The entire piece should come off easily. Note the leather panel on the passenger side floor.

Step 4: remove AC vents on both sides of the DVD screen. Note: I refer to the screen as the dvd screen because we don't get NAV on Guam. Gently pull each vent form the bottom. It should easily come out with a little force. Be careful of the vent on the driver’s side. When you pull it out a little piece of the bottom part of the dash just above the steering column will come out with it. Be careful, when removing the vent, to NOT SCRATCH the dash pieces.

Step 5: Remove the 10mm screws near the upper portion of the dvd screen and the screws toward the middle of the screen that are now exposed. Note: you don't have to remove the bottom two screws that are holding in the tuner. Gently but firmly pull the screen out by holding the sides. It should POP out of the clips and come out very easily.

Step 6: ID the yellow (brake cutoff ) wire 4th from the bottom right on the plug nearest the driver’s side. The pic below shows the plug (FROM THE FRONT - SORRY) CUT the yellow brake wire. Note: I took off the factory loom and cut farther away from the plug so if I need to some day, I have enough wire to reconnect it later on. Ground the wire that leads to the plug. Pic #7 shows where I grounded the wire (just above the up temperature switch in the pic) Tape the other end of the yellow wire off.

Step 7: ID the purple wire (speed sensor cutoff wire) which is second to the bottom left on the same plug. CUT the purple wire it is in the same vicinity as the cut yellow wire. Tape both ends of the purple wire. DO NOT GROUND THIS WIRE. Just cut it and tape both ends.
NOTE: If you have navigation you need to connect both ends of the purple wire to a SPST switch. When you need to input the addresses into flip the switch, enter the addresses, then flip it back. This will enable bluetooth, phone dialpad, & navigation address entry to work while driving.
Step 8: TEST IT! Push the starter button without depressing the brake to activate the accessories on the LX. Push DVD on the player (please ensure you have a DVD in the player before replying with a statement that it does not work) Pull the e-brake up and release it. Drive faster than 7mph (i think that is the cutoff) and see the DVD in action while driving)

Step 9: After verifying all is PERFECT, reverse all steps to replace the loom, screws and panels etc.
The beauty of this mod is that the front seat passenger has the option of displaying the DVD while the vehicle is in motion (notice I refer to the passenger) The touch screen DVD controls work with this mod. The other AWESOME thing is that the backup camera still displays automatically when the vehicle is put in R and the front and side cameras still display automatically when speed is reduced below the threshold (if you have it set on auto). The display can be switched between AC, Audio and DVD while in motion.
DISCLAIMER: For the Nav version: You need to hook up the purple wire and the yellow wire to a DPDT switch. this will allow you to throw the switch on and off, allowing DVD and Nav funtions to work while driving.
The purple wire is the speed sensor cutoff and the yellow wire is the brake sensor cutoff

Here is a diagram pic of the plug.
The purple wire or the speed sensor wire, is #14 on the plug and is the second from the left on the bottom row.
The yellow wire or brake sensor wire, is #23 on the plug and is the fourth from the right on the bottom row.
